The Old Dog Announces: My New Crypto Debit Card Has Arrived Just in Time For My Steemcation!

in #offramp7 years ago (edited)

We all need off ramps for our digital currencies! For the first time I'll be transferring some of my "hard earned" (actually it's been lot's of fun) SBD to my new debit card and using it for my upcoming vacation! A Steemcation! What a Blast!

Disclaimer: If you check my third ever post I did withdraw some SBD at a Bitcoin machine and bought some drinks for my family just to prove that all of this was real! Please see: Can an Old (Entrepreneurial) Dog Learn New Crypto Tricks? Part Three

Why Did I Pick The Advanced Cash Debit Card?

  • They came highly recommended by a very crypto experienced  and technically skilled Steemit member!
  • They offer cash loading in either Euro or U.S. dollars. I need Euro!
  • It can be used to withdraw cash from any MasterCard-enabled ATM and for shopping with any merchant that supports MasterCard.
  • For verified card holder's the limits are extremely high! $100,000 per day, $250,000 per month and $10,000 per transaction. You can also transfer up to $999,000 to other Advanced Cash Card Holders per day and month with a $99,999 per transaction limit! I can't ever imagine needing those limits. One can however dream!

What Are The Fees Like?

  • First of all the card cost me only 4.99 EUR and it arrived in about a week! They said within 8 weeks on FAQ's
  • To withdraw funds in either U.S. dollars or EUR the fee is 1.99
  • Purchases in U.S. dollars or EUR are free of charge.

When Am I Going to Use The Card?

It arrived today but my vacation starts in a few weeks so I'll wait a while and hopefully the price of SBD will go up a bit. There are different funding options but SBD and Steem are not among them so I'll have to trade to Bitcoin and then to SBD.

Would You Like to See How The Card Arrived?

I thought so!

Here are the front and the back of the envelope:

Nice and discreet! Just as it should be!

This is what was inside the envelope:

It only took me a few moments to activate the card and I'm good to go!

So What's Next?

  • In the next little while I'll be loading the card with some SBD
  • I'll use that money on my upcoming vacation! My Steemcation!
  • I'll write a review of the card in action!

What About You?

  • Do you have a debit card for your digital currencies?
  • Have you been spending any of your Steem?
  • Are you looking for an off ramp solution?

Congratulations!

I would be very interested in hearing a report of your experience were you to try a small test load from SBD to Bitcoin, then to your card and withdraw as cash fiat at a local ATM.

Would you give us a description of that experience in the near future? (it might even be a good idea to test it out before you want to use this card on your upcoming vacation).

I definitely have the same thought too, looking forward to seeing this experience as well, if it is possible. Namaste :)

I'll write a review in the next few days!

I'm looking forward for a post that would tell us where and how you could use it
could you use it for shopping?
do you have one with BTC?
I wish you luck
I know someone who has a debt card they loaded with btc and still not managed to use it
reason - it's not accredited anywhere here
I hope this is not the case with you
I wish you and the bird a happy vaca!

Thanks a lot I'll let you know soon. It should be valid everywhere MasterCard or Maestro is accepted. Let's see!

Yes I will do a small test but please don't refer to it as a vacation. It's a Steemcation! 100% financed by blogging! Go Steem go!

Where i can apply for an card for bitcoins?

I have a wirex/ecoin but the limits are really bad and they have a £2 fee. You can't transfer it to other holders so it is pretty shit. I should have looked into other options and I most likely will look into this, thank you for the post!

It is only good for US dollars and Euro. You can withdraw in other funds but then there is a% charge.

Exciting times ahead, Old Dog.....looks like you widening the path to crypto spending... should be interesting to see where / how this ends up...

Thank you for sharing this invaluable knowledge that empowers us all. May you have a wonderful Steem vacation, looking forward to seeing the results of it on here soon too... Namaste :)

I'll keep you posted!

i got almost 5 sbd in my wallet and I would spend on that card but it won't click "register" ... re-try later... but do you know does it deliver to Egypt?

There is a list of counties on their web site. Go through it, read the FAQ's and look for the best solution. Here's a nice upvote to add to your SBD's!

Will go now to see...Thank you sir!! that is very generous of you!! This good energy I will give back one of this days :)))

Congratulations, but Adv Cash is not a credit card?

Thanks for sharing my friend. Upvoted :)

No it's a debit card. You need to load it with cash!

I have one! different brand but suspiciously similar. I hope you enjoy spending some of that well earned dollar on your vacation!

Thanks a lot! It would be good to have a resource where members could clearly see the different options. You once bought an effects peddle with your earnings, correct?

I did, I have actually bought quite a lot with it. All using my card. It's a fabulous thing!

Excellent!

I'll be interested to see how you like actually using it. Mrs. Denmarkguy and I are planning a trip back to Denmark next summer, and it would be nice to have a reliable card to use over there, that I can load with some of my cryptos. Interesting to note it came from Gibraltar... it's one of those interesting "below the radar" financial havens.

It would be nice for you to be able to use such a card on your trip. I'll soon be writing a review as to how the card worked. I'm not very tech savvy so I need to plod along. I am persistent though!

Looks like a nice convenient way spending cryptocurrency. I’ll be sure to share this link around a bit since I know some people I’ve been talking to where looking for a solution like this.

I still need to try it out before I promote it but that is iminent!

Only down side I can see is they don’t want deal with those of us who live in America. At least from there FAQ that what it sounds like even though it’s a master card so I don’t see why that matters much.

Just going have go the ‘The Wolf of Wall Street” route one day. Hire me Swedish female who smuggles my cryptocurrency into Sweden and puts it into a Swedish bank!

This is amazing as I know nothing about these cards and we dont work in Euro or dollar what now.

You're in Australia right? You could use this card and withdraw your funds in Aussie currency but you would be a small percentage for the exchange. I withdrew 50 Swiss Francs from an ATM in Switzerland yesterday and it cost me about a Euro xtra. Most likely you can find a card that works well for you there. Why not psot an articel about it and see if any suggestions come along?

If in Australia you could use Coinjar Swipe. It is EFTPOS only, so no good for online purchases, but I have been buying groceries with it for months now. It makes my play Monopoly money really feel real.

If you load with bitcoin there is no fee (other than spread) and 1% otherwise.

OH, you got here before me. Good for you!

Also, check out Living Room of Satoshi for paying bills through BPAY. Thanks to lobbying by #teamaustralia, they now accept Steem directly, so no need to convert to bitcoin first.
