Must We Handshake?

One of the most common gesture of showing love to our friends today is through handshaking and to me, I don't think it is really bad to do that but the current pandemic affecting our world is now bridging the gap and despite all information being passed around that will should maintain social distance and stop the act of shaking our Friends and anybody that make a move for it, so many people still engage in it because it has become part of us.

Let me quickly take you through the history of handshaking, it is not what we just wake up to and start doing, it has a long history dating back to antiquity, 5th century before the born of Jesus Christ (BC) and then it stand as what many people use to preach peace and what did I mean by that, during this period, people handshake to show that there is not weapon with them because when you extend you hand in handshake, the second party will be able to see clearly that truly you are not carry any weapon in your hand.

Mind you, handshaking is not the only the only gesture we used to express greetings to others, there are other ways of greetings which is very common to some countries. For example, some part of New Zealand touches each other nose to greet each other, in DR Congo their male greeted each other by touching each others shoulder, some countries make use of hugging and kissing to just limit the form of gestures that we use in the world to greet each other.

Handshaking like I have said above started a long time ago and it is the most common way of greeting each other but with what the world is battling with now, it may soon become a thing of history as well because fist bump is now taking over as expert now make us to understand that virus and germs can easily be transmitted through handshaking.

It round my view up on handshaking, it is not a must we handshake because the main reason for handshake is not how we see it today and since the whole world is now in a state of comatose with corona virus easily transmitting from human to human through handshake and other means, let is embrace Fist Bump.
