Lockdown day in India, my experience (March 22, 2020)

in #ocd4 years ago

Today is a complete lock-down in India. It was announced by the Indian Government a few days ago. It is not an enforced lock-down but a plea by the Government.

As I stay at home to participate for this, I was also ready with all basic food supplies for the next few days as we still do not know how the situation will turn out in the next few days.

I heard from the news that all restaurant are closed, metro trains are stopped and even taxi services are limited to only serve those in critical needs.

I have asked my loved ones to avoid travel, as they usually travel to my home on the weekends. Yes we are going to stay far from each other for a bit of time but it is important for not only our safety but also safety for others.

All I can do as I sit at home is to occasionally look outside through the window. I am lucky to stay a bit farther away from the city so I have a nice green relaxing view out the window and as well as from the balcony of my house.

Usually there are people sitting by that turn talking their hearts out but today there were none. Everyone is taking this seriously I guess. Good!

For sure this 12 hour lock-down on a Sunday will not be effective in a major way. I think this will be a way for the Government to study how the people in general behave and what needs to be done in the future if week long or month long shutdowns are imminent.

And it will also help the people to avoid panic in their minds just like mock drills do when we have a real fire in the building. We Indians are generally sensitive about certain things.

Hopefully all goes well and the Government and we citizens will take the right decisions ahead to strangle the pandemic that has leaked into our neighborhood.
