My little Rags to Riches story (Sort of with a twist of luck)

in #oc2 years ago

Hi its been a long time since my last post!! Again!!! I find it very hard to be a consistent content creator as of the last 2 years. This time around I am going to try my best to publish at least once a week, boy I could have shared stories these last 2 years, maybe just maybe ill throw in some old adventures I have been on.

For now let me share a little story of my somewhat rags to riches. Although I still have a lot of "unclaimed riches" in life, seeing that I am still young and have a lot of road ahead of me now with that being said I also have a lot of "rags" to "claim" as well. As we all know life has its ups and down's, its roller coaster ride and all we can do is to go along with the motion.

Just something nice to see. I will share more photos later in the article

My Very first transport that I had was a scooter... nothing fancy. It was a Jonway 125cc scooter, widely sold in South Africa as it serves as a cheap delivery and transportation method. Long story short I didn't drive it for very long before upgrading to something new. I unfortunately don't have a picture of this scooter.

However when I upgraded I upgraded to something brand new. It felt like a big stepping stone for me at that time and it sure was. With the help of family it was bought cash and my debt was towards family. It was a quick and easy loan to repay because luckily the fams didn't put up any interest rate fees.

Somewhere around the 4 year mark of owning the motorcycle I struck a bargain with a old school friend that was selling his Volkswagen citi golf for the price I was paying I got a lot of car. Paying only R 10 000 in ZAR currency,

Yes yes, it had a little bit of work that had to be done on her but it was nothing major, as the motor and gearbox was still in a very good condition. So I went about fixing her, basically just gave a major service. I then ended up selling it to a friend that was also in need for almost 3 times what I put in, still well below market value and everyone was happy.

(A photo when I was working on the car, after a heavy night of thunder and rain the ground gave in underneath the jack stands, never mind the dogger that looks like he had a paw involved) (Also the only photo I have of the Volkswagen)

My next and current vehicle is a Ford Focus 2.0 automatic it did have problems yes.

Lets start from the beginning, so the down payment of this car started with the money I made of the Volkswagen, and the first payment was more than 50% of the price I was buying it for A measly R 50 000 in ZAR currency. Keep in mind it was sort of a non-runner although it was driving with some major problems on the gearbox, the way I saw it was that the client already fixed it halfway so I made a offer and low and behold it came through. I know owned a car that is cosmetically and even mechanically in a good condition with very ow mileage on the clock. it also has leather interior, blue tooth SYNC radio, electric windows. It really has all the fancy's on and even has the ST rims given they are 17 inches and the ST are 18.

Again for the price I was paying I once again got a lot of car for very cheap, and even though i did have a little paying of to do.
it came with a little help. I play online video games and as it happened to turn out I opened 6 cases of a game called Counter-strike Global Offensive CSGO as many would say and in one of those cases I dropped a item that was very very valuable I ended up selling that to a collector and used that money to pay of the newly owned car. I now have a very reliable vehicle thats in a very good condition!

I have to admit by the start of next year I will be pushing towards the next step with is something in the line of a pickup truck or a "bakkie" commonly referred to as in South Africa! Lets see where the road takes us.

Okay these are just some images of when I took out the Ford's gearbox although I didn't have any mechanical issues I still took it out to do a thorough inspection which I was glad I did the gearbox did have some grime in it luckily everything stuck to the casing overall everything looked good didn't show signs of the usual damage, gears looked beautiful and syncros looks gapped. Ended up replacing the TCM (Transmission Control Module) and along with it the clutch and for the heck of it the two actuators controlling the dual clutch. Shes driving as smooth as she can get.
