Hello dear readers, this week has been long but enriching work, we are in the final stretch of shooting the documentary with the ONG Sounds of Africa of Senegal, who with the Group Madera Venezuela make an artistic exchange, for me it has been a beautiful experience.

One of the places we visited was San Agustín, one of the 22 parishes in Caracas where you can experience the music, the flavor and the guaguanco of the capital city.

This parish is full of artistic talent, with great potential in Traditional Dance and Music, especially percussionists and musical groups with a Caribbean flavor, where salsa and drums predominate.

It is in San Agustín where the first neighborhoods of Caracas were formed, according to records of the city was in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, with people who came mainly from the states of Miranda and Nueva Esparta, then President Guzman Blanco made the passages from 1 to 12 in San Agustin del Sur, later founded San Agustin del Norte.

In San Agustin del Norte is the Central Park complex formed by residential buildings and two business towers, these towers were the highest in Latin America for their time in the 80's, they have 59 floors with 225 mst of height.

San Agustin del Sur is a meeting place.

Its streets and sidewalks are full of meeting places, which reflect part of its culture and daily beauty.

In San Agustin there are many houses converted into bars and places to enjoy. It is one of the right places in the city where you can enjoy good Caribbean music such as salsa and drums.

This parish has a long history of musical culture that has been passed down from generation to generation.

The Alameda Theater, a space where the artistic seed is sown in children and young people of the community, with schools of Dance and Music. The theater is always active for the enjoyment of culture.

Its people are in search of exploiting its tourist potential so they have organized themselves to do so, the most outstanding is the Cumbe San Agustín Festival, which they celebrate as a musical parish of Caracas , as well as Cumbe Tours, where you can get to know and enjoy a parish with a guided tour.
San Agustín, a place full of caraqueña essence, music, guaguanco, experiences, stories and good people. A place that as a Caraqueña I always visit and enjoy.
