Obsoleteness X - Humans and Other Living Beings

Since when did humans come upon the idea that the bodies that our spirit and the spirits of our fellow creatures inhabit are imperfect? Sure the physical bodies are not immortal, but can you imagine the world with all the beings that were ever born existing simultaneously? Is it from the time when Sir Isaac Newton, the famous alchemist, decided that they are going to tear the secrets of Mother Nature’s out of her chest?  Or is it since the monk Mendel crossed the peas, what eventually lead to terminator seeds, all sorts of hybrid seeds, and finally genetic engineering? Since when did certain individuals come upon the idea that humans can be immortal if they advance themselves technically and integrate with the machine to ultimately reach singularity with human consciousness and then live in the hologram? In 2035? To me this looks like hacking my DNA and brain, and other cells' content. To me my body is solely mine as well as my spirit. And the same is true of other living beings. Actually, I’m not sure whether they want to hack only the brain's content and the cellular structure, or whole human spirit as well. According to Robin Hanson, the “ems” – machines that emulate human brains can do exactly the same as the brains they were copied from: think, feel and work. Human brains sure are a big storage of data and quite some of this data isn’t positive or benevolent at all, or even true. Human’s idea of being more and better than any other fellow living being doesn’t serve us anymore, it just props our egos as the crown of the creation, giving us false sense of importance. Perhaps, before we run blindly and enthusiastically into the newest trap set for our minds to make things more effective and us being pushed further on the scale towards obsoleteness, while making other living beings, like plants and animals in their natural forms and habitat, obsolete due to abuse created by experiments or exploitation, we should consider the ethics of such endeavor and answer similar questions as in this presentation.

As someone in the field, I do think that this is a matter of choice. It does step over that humans playing God line, but in this case I feel like it's quite merited. If humans only relied on natural selection, then it would take a long time to get from point A to point B. Admittedly there are some who use power irresponsibly. But, when power is handed to the right hands, I feel like real progress would be made. We shouldn't be scared about moving forward.

I don't believe in such a thing as power in the right hands. I don't know about Phillipines, as we learn close to nothing in schools about the true history, but I know that when the medicine started about 60.000 homeless, beggars and the like were rounded on the streets of London and used for medical research - I doubt they survived, about 20.000 native people from Panama who were forced to dig out the Panama canal were packed in the barrels' false bottom that were shipped to London - it is one of the finance sources for construction of the Panama canal. You may say, oh, it's a long way back. Sorry, but I doubt those people in power really ever change - for them it is money that matters, not life of humans or other living beings. I have seen a video of some US transhumanist who is willing to kill anyone who would oppose him to become God in the way he imagined. The elite and those havelots will never change. They have been this way for thousands of years, and why would they change if they have so much fun at havenots expense. And, it doesn't matter what color, race or whereabouts that elite has - they are one and the same club. I know that someone who has some impairment will gladly accept some technological improvement, but otherwise. Now, when quite some people are literate, they'll probably use marketing and education, and after some centuries of work noone will know anything about nature or natural life, if any will remain, anyway. I think natural selection ceased to exist the moment humans started waging wars, agriculture and construction.
