Obsoleteness VIII - Money

Ever since money was invented it remained as the common denominator of economy, where purchasing-producing-selling is what encompasses our lives. We are born into it and don't know any other ways. It is found in David Graeber's book Debt that first money was made out of tree bark and as emperor's decree, so everyone had to accept it. No matter how the various forms of money go obsolete from time to time as the empires rise and fall, the idea of money as something that connects and ties the various parts of societal functioning doesn't, and if this connection and ties go broken the system starts to fall into disarray. Strange enough, just recently the idea about the course of development “gold-petrodollar-bitcoin” structured in my mind. Gold as the highest treasure goes along with a horse and manual economy, petrodollar goes along with on petrol based economy, and bitcoin goes along with digital economy. Whether this is sound or not is yet another question. It just looks like humans seem to forget that no being is a property of another being, whether it is human, plant, animal or stone. And, neither is the Earth and the atmosphere a property of anyone, actually.

I look forward to the day when every form of currency is obsolete. Maybe in the future, karma points would be a thing, and you're richer every time you help someone out or do things that would benefit the environment. I think that would incentivize doing good things.
