Jimmy Carter, RIP.

He was a much better president than most think. He deserves great credit for such achievements as the deregulation of trucking and airlines, beginning US aid to Solidarity and the Afghan rebels, and more.

He was also right to boycott the 1980 Olympics, thus denying the Soviet Union a propaganda victory.

Obviously, he also had a number of badly flawed policies. But the overall ledger is much more positive than conventional wisdom suggests.
