How to get into cryptocurrency from New Zealand

I've spent the last week doing a lot of scrolling through message boards and reading posts. There is a lot of help out there for beginners to buy their first bitcoin, but none of it is specific to NZ. This is where I thought I'd share my experiences and point you towards who you can trust.

After signing up to 4 sites trying to buy bitcoin with NZD I finally succeeded. From my experience kiwi-coin is the best site to convert NZD into bitcoin. Which can then be converted in to other cryptocurrencies. There were other sites but personally I thought this site was the easiest to deal with and also the cheapest.

Using kiwi-coin.com I created an account and verified myself using my verified RealMe. It was super simple and only took me 10 minutes when others companies I tried still haven't verified my account yet, 2 days on. If you don't have a verified RealMe yet and want to get started pronto, thats no problem either just follow the instructions on the site and you can send in a photo with your face, drivers license and todays paper.
The thing I like about this site is that the support is great, I had to deal with them a few times due to my own mistakes and they were great to sort it out. Using the RealMe account I think it a great way to verify an account holder, fast and increases security. Plus I was able to sign up and buy bitcoin with in an hour, impossible for any other site I tried.

You'll also have to verify your phone and set up 2 factor authentication (2fa) with google authenticator (download from the app store and follow the instructions)

Once you have completed all that, you can now deposit NZD into your wallet. Using PoLi as the middle man this was super easy and you can transfer money straight from your NZ bank account. There was a small fee of 1.5% calculated before you make the transaction.

Immediately you have money in your wallet and you are ready to buy some bitcoin. Go to the buy section, key in how much you want to spend and buy some bitcoin. You can alter what you want to pay with timing the market but it you are reading a beginners guide I think that might be a bit too advanced.

You now have your first bitcoin!

Ok now, if you want to buy another cryptocurrency you are going to have transfer your bitcoin to site called Bittrex.com. Create an account there and use your phone to verify your account under settings. This again was easy and quick so you don't have to wait around for admin to verify you (takes a few days on other sites).

Now go to your Bittrex wallet, push the plus sign beside bitcoin and copy the address it gives you. Now go back to kiwi-coin and paste this address into the space under the withdrawal tab. Make sure to double check that you have spaced this address fully and correctly, because if its wrong you'll lose your money. Kiwi-coin will ask you to put in your password and confirm the transfer with phone verification and 2fa. Once thats all confirmed the bitcoin should appear in your wallet in 5-30 minutes.

Now your bitcoin is in Bittrex you can search the cryptocurrency you desire. Click buy coins and follow the steps to buy the coin, simple as that.

It is highly recommended to now store these in a wallet on your hard drive, but there are plenty of tutorials of how to do that out there as its the same for anyone at this point.
