Hi Everyone ❤

As you have known, sometime life has its ups and downs. From our personal life to our career, our life can become very busy and take us away from the many joys which are always there. But it’s not easy to keep balance especially when we have so many responsibilities and burdens.

I have a friend who I met at a meditation course in Thai Plum Village. After finding out about the challenges he faces in his life and career, I encouraged him to create a meditation area looking out onto his garden. My way to support him was to offer to paint the Buddha for him, I thought painting on a wood panel would be the most suitable for his meditation room.

I took the idea for the painting from one of my drawings of the Buddha. I made the painting simpler by painting a half portrait of the Buddha.

First I put the gesso on the surface to get the wood canvas ready for acrylic painting. Then I drew the shape of Buddha’s face by charcoal.

I used black color to paint the shape of the portrait.

I added more colors on many layers. You can see some pictures of the coloring process here.

For this painting I used these 8 colors. As the meditation room is cosy, I wanted to put a colorful painting there as a reminder of how colorful life can be. Life is the objective of meditation right? I still kept the painting semi transparent, allowing some places where you can see through to the beautiful grain of the wood panel.

Here is the final result of the painting. A colorful and transparent portrait of Buddha on the wood.

My friend was happy and thought the style of the painting worked well with his meditation room. That was great to hear and a meaningful reward for me. I hope the meditation room will support him to have a more balanced and joyful life.

You're welcome @livvu, it's a pleasure to see your art. ;)

Thank you for sharing the detailed description of your wonderful art.

Is there a special reason or meaning for painting only half the Buddha's face? You don't have to answer if the question is too personal.

I find the sketch - the girl in the Buddha's palm very meaningful. Was it charcoal ?

Thank you @quotes-haven for your support as always. I painted half of Buddha's face to make the portrait bigger and more impressive I think. The sketch was drawn by pencil

I See. Thanks for your reply. Much appreciated. :-)
