Hello Everyone!

Welcome back to my blog.

Today I want to show you another practice of faces that I did, this time and as I said in my previous post, I wanted to illustrate an Asian boy.

Again I select a finer and more youthful face, on this occasion, the model has few details in his face more than the delicacy of it however we go there!

Step by step:

My tools:

  • Mechanical pencil.
  • Hb, 3B, 5B, 8B lead.
  • Charcoal Pencil.
  • Moldable Eraser.
  • Brush.
  • Diffuser.
  • A4 Opaline 300G.

  • I started with the main sketch or the guidelines for the illustration, made with HB graphite.

  • To develop a face the most optimal is to start by illustrating clear zones and last part the dark ones to avoid staining the drawing, but I am stubborn and I always start with what interests me more than it looks good, in this case, I started with the hair, illustrating it with a charcoal pencil.

  • Then illustrate the shirt, also using the charcoal pencil and lighting with the moldable eraser.

  • Now I went to the face, I made a basic layer with the HB graphite very light and then over the shadows, with the pencil 8B I made the outline of the eyes.

  • The same process with the left side only that on this side are the shadows so I made them and also giving volume on the face, using graphite 3B to 8B to increase the tone.

  • With the 5B pencil, I made the lips and gave light with the moldable eraser. Now the neck is missing, which has dark tones and a small stroke of light that we will do perfectly with the 5B and 8B pencils.

  • I adjusted some details, gave something more light on the face and this is the Final Art:

Although it is a very comfortable and simple illustration it is often difficult to have a good perception, many times the reference is very small or some important details are not seen that would make the face change. So that's the most important thing to portray, to have a lot of perception.

I hope you liked it, Thank you very much for visiting my post and I hope to show you a new drawing soon.

Until the next time!

Thanks, bro it is always good to place as I did, there are those who would like to use my techniques as well as I sometimes use the others, although I keep many tricks!

I like your choice, I like that you are trying different models, this young man has nice cheeks bones that you highlighted very well seeing the original in colors it is nice to see how you worked on values of white and black and hte highlights of tip of nose as well as lips. Good work!

Hi stef, if I like to try different people, sometimes get out of the ordinary and it's good that you notice, that makes you also an excellent artist.
