Oh, how beautiful that chapter was! On Sunday the 8x03 chapter of the famous Game of Thrones was released, I don't need to mention how much of a fan I am of this series, but I really want to tell you that the chapter was fascinating, I had my heart about to explode during the whole episode. (I wrote this a week ago, I hadn't been able to publish it since :c).

This drawing was supposed to be finished on Sunday just before the chapter premiere, but the coloring took quite some time and I could barely finish it today, but here it is, my portrait of the dreaded and cold Night King.

Materials:

  • Opalina Cardboard (21x28 cm)
  • Graphite pencil 2B/li>
  • Prismacolor Premier colored pencils
  • Eraser
  • Graphite powder
  • Brush
  • Approximate time: 16 hours

  • Reference Photography

    -Step 1:

Initially I divided the leaf in the form of a cross, to locate the center of it and thus locate the face correctly. Once divided, I drew an oval which I molded and improved until I captured the features of the character.

    -Step 2:

Next, with the black color I delineated the eyes, since its contour is quite dark, then with a light blue tone I proceeded to color the skin, always darkening it when mixing it with a little black.

    -Step 3:

When coloring with pencils, it is important to keep in mind that the coloring must be done in layers, it is not recommended to squeeze the color against the paper too much, or at least not first hand, because then it would be complicated to mix it with some other tone, if on the contrary you are giving hand after hand of color, you can mix the colors and achieve some other tone that is not in your repertoire of pencils.

    -Step 4:

<pFor the left side (from my perspective) of the face, use at least three different shades of blue, plus a little gray to darken the edges of that kind of wrinkles on the king's face.

    -Step 5:

On the right side, the lighting is higher, so I used the lighter blue that I have and I applied it gently leaving some without coloring at all, so as to take advantage of the white color of the paper.

    -Step 6:

The face is ready, it is time to proceed with the suit, in the only I have used black and gray, with these two tones gave volume to the texture of the armor, and no, the insignia in the middle I do not stay crooked, she is that way. As a final touch, I took a brush and a little graphite powder and spread it on the outside of the character, this with the purpose of enhancing and defining the contour of that whitish areas on the tip of their horns/crown.

The explosion was majestic hahah

Very cool drawing, @hadley4. Can you believe I haven't watched a single episode of this? I watched 5 minutes or so, it doesn't seem to be my thing. 😝

A very nice portrait of the Night King :) He looks so serious and very majestic here, @hadley4 :) I think you captured him very nicely~ The detailing in his facial's lines and horns are done so well ! I like your step by step presentation, too! :D

He always looks serious and that's scary, but he fulfilled his role to perfection. It's always a pleasure to know that you like my drawings and the way I explain how I made them, thank you for your tireless support <3

Excellent process post, and the GIF at the end really shows it well!

Thank you!!
