Update 22-MAR-2019

This is just an update, as I collate the data I've already collected, and pull more recent data from the FBI's UCR page.  This has not been an easy article to write, and my personal feelings to the way certain periodicals summarize without providing sufficient context, or sometimes distort information to fit a narrative, leave me feeling there is a need to provide as much accurate information as is necessary for the article to stand on it's own. 

This will be the first in a series of information-dense, conversational articles, delving into multiple forms of domestic abuse, as well as my opinion that the BDSM community should move from a culture of consent, to a culture of informed consent. 

First in line, is physical abuse, sadism, and sexual sadism. Next, emotional abuse, followed by sexual abuse and coercion, reproductive coercion, financial abuse, digital abuse, stalking, and finally, the difference between general consent and informed consent, within a kink-centric framework, and why it matters. 

These are, in my opinion, discussions that must be had long before we dive into the history, philosophy, theories and practices involved in kink and the culture of BDSM communities, and set the framework for productive, more compassionate discussions.
