Trump's first sentences provoke laughter in the delegations gathered at the UN
"In less than two years we have achieved more than almost any other government in the history of our country," the president assured before the laughter of some attendees broke out.
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has been late for his speech and has provoked some laughter with one of his first sentences before the delegations gathered at UN headquarters.
"In less than two years we have achieved more than almost any other government in the history of our country," the president assured before the burst of laughter from some attendees, apparently amused by that hyperbolic affirmation. "I did not expect that reaction, but nothing happens," said a surprised Trump.
The US president has told the UN that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has no "legitimacy or authority" and has rejected the "ideology of the global" as a threat to national sovereignty and patriotism.
"The ICC (based in The Hague) has no jurisdiction, legitimacy or authority," he said in his speech to the UN General Assembly.
"We will never relinquish US sovereignty to a bureaucracy that is not accountable or has been elected by anyone, we reject the ideology of the global and embrace the doctrine of patriotism," he added.
