Omicron found in North Carolina: Get ready for the liberal cities to lockdown
After nearly 2 years of this crap I can't believe that there are people out there that are still listening to their ineffective governments and believing that their tactics to combat Covid have ever accomplished anything at all and that anything they do moving forward is going to have any sort of impact on the virus.
As I have mentioned many times before, my community stopped complying to ALL mandates both Federal and State well over a year ago. The community banded together and spoke to our representatives and basically informed them that if they tried to enact tyranny on us that we would not comply and we would also see all of them removed from office.
This is one of the benefits of the rather convoluted separation of powers that exist between the federal, state, and local level. While the ones above you on the tier ultimately CAN force your area into compliance, they do so only by removing someone from office that the people of that community can vote to immediately reinstate. This is one part of the USA's governing system that I actually appreciate. One of the few. Your locality can basically determine what is best for that community and not have someone in D.C. tell you what is best for you.

In the never-ending cycle that is Covid fear, the news is making a big deal about the fact that there are a few states where the dreaded Omicron variant has reared its ugly head and North Carolina is one of those states. I am quite certain that the liberal areas of this state will almost immediately freak out, close the schools, get the mask police back on the streets, and even quarantine and lockdown certain areas. We already know that Craven County will not be one of them.
The people in my relatively low-population county have made our voice very clear. We will not comply and our local leaders are on our side with this. I realize that a lot of this support from them may very well be fake and that they are simply interested in keeping their jobs but if that is what it takes, than so be it.
This has been circulating a lot online lately and this is basically how my part of the country feels about Covid in a general sense. Without complying with basically anything that the government has told us would result in our own demise, we have seen figures that are right in line with the rest of the country per capita. Even the places that have had the strictest restrictions in the country have around the same percentages per capita as we do. How much more information do people need?
I'm very happy that my community and county seems to be one of the sane ones and while I am certain there are a few people here and there that disagree with our nonchalant attitude towards Covid, we believe that it should be their personal responsibility to take whatever extra precautions they deem necessary. It should not be forced on the rest of the population against their will.
This is the very essence of freedom in my mind and if that makes me a backwoods redneck then it is a title I gladly accept and will wear with pride. We will not comply no matter how many variants they discover.
NYS's lunatic governor mandated that all persons in public places over the age of two wear masks at all times. I moved from a liberal county that embraced the covid con fully, to a backwoods upstate town that I hoped did not - it has the lowest jab rate in the state after all. But yesterday morning when I went out to see if people were wearing masks, they were!!! Signs in many doors, everyone (except me) in the places with signs wearing masks! I was very upset.
Only in one of the five businesses I entered did someone tell me I had to put one on or leave. I said "I'm only doing this so you don't get fined. You have been made into unpaid, untrained and unarmed law enforcement. I don't know why you are all not saying 'No! We won't do it!'" No one in the full, masked, store made a peep in support.
I've started looking for a home in nearby Pennsylvania.
I wish you luck in your search for a place that believes that freedom is important. This is such disappointing news that you relocated only to find that the people in the place you thought was going to be different are just as programmable as many others are. No offense to New Yorkers, but they seem to actually embrace tyranny and government overreach.
I hope that there are at least enough sane people there to get a new governor... but it's New York afterall and they will probably just elect a carbon copy of the same person over and over and over again.
Omicron was the beginning of the end of the fraudulent claims and rationale for vaxx mandates.
