That's the fundamental challenge with archives, isn't it? To figure out how to collect everything and yet not run out of space and be able to use everything you have. Never an easy decision! I think you are correct that the LA&M's collection, by representing the underrepresented, has an inherent value. I wonder if that value is greater or lesser outside of an established institution? Grassroots archives are important, but so is diversifying the record at the big archives...where's the balance there?
