The Jaw of the Pacu Fish

Pacu is a common name used to refer to several species of omnivorous South American freshwater serrasalmid fish that are related to the piranha. Pacu and piranha do not have similar teeth, the main difference being alignment of the jaws. Pacu, unlike piranha, mainly feed on plant material and not flesh or scales.

This is the unusual human-like teeth of a pacu fish. The Pacu Fish have squarer, straighter teeth, which are uncannily similar to human teeth, and a less severe underbite, or a slight overbite. Also known as the "ball-cutter" by the natives as they have a habit of attacking human testicles. While wrongly considered a herbivore, two fishermen in Papua New Guinea were attacked by a pacu and bled to death due to the injuries to their genitals.
