Why is Nigeria regarded as the 'giant of Africa'?

With a population of about 180 million people, Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa, the most populous black nation on earth, and the 8th most populous in the world.

Even with a high rate of corruption, She has an annual GDP of about $400 billion, Nigeria has the largest economy in Africa.

Nigeria is home to Lagos, the sixth largest urban centre in the world, who is the true giant of Africa?

And also, a sporting country as well. It has represented for Africa in every sports at Olympics.

To add, military might of her is great. Of course it is corrupt, but still formidable.

She was the first African nation to win independence.

Anyone who claims Nigeria as “giant of Africa”, should definitely be awarded.
