WRITING TIPS PART 1: YOU MUST NOT BE A PRODIGY TO BE A GOOD WRITER..

Most times when i talk to the people i introduce to steemit about how well writers are earning, i commonly get questions like;

Does it mean steemit is designed only for talented writers?

HELL NO!
I understand steemit to be a social media. Its like an alternative to facebook and Reddit. There are lots of people who write stories, forecast about cryptos, share their holiday feelings, run contests and everything else. We have youtubers here doing their thing (posting videos) and gathering a following.

The advice i usually give my friends is to write what ever they feel like. Others will like to see it here. Something that has never been told here.

Be that as it may, i still think writing is the most effective way to create value here. No matter what and how we tend to express ourselves here, it boils down to having to write. The Vloggers still make a written description of the contents in the video sometimes to add important details to the video. Photographers and artists throw more light on their work in simple writing. The exact part that scares a lot of people is when writing becomes a must...LOL

A friend of mine (name with-held, before somebody will start a fight) would post a picture and caption it "HI STEEMIANS HOW IS EVERYONE" then few hours later come at me like why do they hate me so much...hahaha

By now i'm sure you know the origin of that question

Does it mean steemit is designed only for talented writers?

If you are friends with Nigerians you'd know we are good at answering questions with questions (wink).. So i quickly replied my friend thus;

You can be a talented writer. Can't you?

LET'S SEE

No doubt, there are people born with natural talents of course but there is a distinction between having some ability and being a prodigy. In fact one does not have to be one to be a writer. @lindahas told me yesterday I have to practice writing for years to become a pro. I was happy to know i can actually become a pro regardless how long it'd take me. To me, these few Tips i read is enough to become a better writer. I'm sure the tips may help you too.

Here are Some Tips To be a Successful writer

  • Passion: Writing is actually a labour of love. You need passion first and foremost to become a better writer. Truth is if you weren't passionate about writing in the first place you probably wouldn't bother about becoming successful. Passion can not be sent to you from anywhere. You can't call home for it. No Magic Formulas. It is just within us, the environments we find ourselves can be used as a tool to perfect our craft. @greenrun taught me that.

I recently found out something fascinating about writers. When they are not writing they are thinking of writing. @greenrun is a great story teller because he likes writing stories. And he told me writing isn't even easy for him. There is a lot of obstacles and rejections but when you are passionate and not just curious, you would tell any obstacle "man i'm a writer".

  • Being Inquisitive: Yes. Good writers are quite inquisitive. That means having to ask a lot of questions. Good writers are good communicators and good communicators have inquisitive minds. Being inquisitive means reading wide. Read more than you write.

Topsy Gift says

“Truth is hidden only to the masses who are not inquisitive”

  • Make new connects-Very important Tip: Let's be honest, while writing may be fulfilling, we all do it for some sort of acknowledgement. Hence the need to meet as many people as possible to develop our network. Here on steemit, the Pros always emphasize on the need to socialize. Making contacts have become so easy. Not necessarily in person. You can reach out to your favourite steemit author on discord or steemit.chat.. You can send an email across. You can equally reach out through commenting on their posts. Associate with others consistently and achievement will discover you.

  • Diligence: Having fearlessness, an arrangement, persistence, train, confidence in yourself, a long haul point of view; coming up short your approach to progress; improving your life; and commending your triumphs. These keys move you to adjust yin and yang—creating contents and imparting about it. Incorporating them will make collaboration and an abstract biological community that will prosper as long as you maintain it. You can adjust the keys to different fields and your own life.

Having said all these, There's still a challenge. I like calling it "small challenge" (because every challenge i face nowadays are redfish to me...haha)

LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO WRITER'S BLOCK

If you are reading this put yourself in my friend's shoe i'm sure he can lend you a pair. You have now discovered you can do better, at least you are doing better than before but sometimes you find it hard to put words together. So You are not sure of yourself. You think you only get lucky the few times you get to write an impressive article. You think the ability to write is some cosmic accident or some blessing and you’ve either been brought in by the universe or not. In this sense you still feel like giving up.

Do not Worry!

It is a normal phenomenon, even to every succesful writer you know. There is always that moment writers find it difficult to write something new or proceed with a project yet to be completed. It is known as WRITER'S BLOCK

Writer's block is a condition in which a skilled writer with the desire to write finds herself unable to write.

The expression writer's block was coined and popularized by American psychoanalyst Edmund Bergler in the 1940s.
"In other ages and cultures," says Alice Flaherty in The Midnight Disease, "writers were not thought to be blocked but straightforwardly dried up. One literary critic points out that the concept of writer's block is peculiarly American in its optimism that we all have creativity just waiting to be unlocked."

TO AVOID MAKING THIS PIECE TOO LONG AND BORING LET'S TALK ABOUT WRITER'S BLOCK SOME OTHER TIME
RESTEEMING THIS MAY BE HELPFUL TO SOMEONE ELSE you know right? haha Thanks in advance and hey! your thoughts mean the world to me as it can learn more from you. STAY BLESSED

Awesome. This is nice. Steemit is for everyone who has something to share. I believe every one does. You don't have to be necessarily a writer to be able to share something here. You just only need the will and drive to share whatever it is you have here. Keep steeming ✌️

Thanks sir..You've been an inspiration.

Useful tips! Steemit isn't meant for just talented writers. Hard work and passion are the paths to success and also practice. Through practice, one is able to connect words well. I started writing stories since I was eight till now. Sometimes when I read the stories I wrote back then in secondary school (high school) I make jest of myself but those works were what carved my thoughts and built me to the way I write today. We learn everyday.

Another tip is to read more than you write.

Thanks for sharing!

I approve this message :)

Thanks a lot for your contribution. Thanks for coming around too.

nice article you got here..practice makes perfect,

Thanks sweetie

If I can make it on here, anybody can!

Hell no! I like that, yes its true look at my post whatever It comes to my mind I post it look my post.. lol, I earned nothing! but me no worry because I am still part of the algorithm whatever you post it counts as part of it steemit is running. We will see how far my steemit journey goes.

I wish you the very best. thanks for stopping by.

@prettycynthia, very important post in detail you shared with us which is very helpful for everyone, thanks a lot for this valuable, and much thanks to @surpassinggoogle who always promote new comers.

i'm glad you find it useful. Pray God make @surpassinggoogle stronger for us.

Thanks so much for the tips. I was already thinking of maybe backingdown at writing, but when said,

you have to practice writing before you can become a pro

I was encouraged. Thanks!

It is better late than never they say..right? glad you found it useful sir. And thanks for visiting i appreciate.

Writers aren't the best writers according to me.

I'm a little confused here. Help a brother out :)

i'm equally lost...i'm sure we will learn.

Perhaps in a chat. There is a difference between someone having the best vocals and someone who has the best vocals and soul

really deep.

Yep. Depth's involved. You for instance. What would i tell you as a girl? "Catwalk that walk. Halt the room because your presence filled it".

There are facets of human that is beyond that superficial. Mohammed ali was a boxer, but he was way different from a Mike Tyson and even Mike tyson wouldn't doubt that.

When you are these stages, you won't need to be a writer. Even your silence will have meaning. Your one-liners will fix masses. It was never about writing all along.

This is thoughful, actually getting beyond the superfical is the breakthrough to something bigger. Learning and rel-learning is the way to go. Thank you for sharing your thought @surpassinggoogle.

you are such a great teacher..complex becoming simple. thank you

I think I'm beginning to get this line of reasoning. It sure got depth. Thanks.

Wow i'm glad you're here sir @surpassinggoogle. It proves our prayers are being answered. Again, this may be another privilege for us to learn from you as usual. Kindly explain to us what that means, if you don't mind.

Takes lots of chats. Substance is keyer than the writing. There is deal and there is "the real deal".

right..substance

I agree @prettycynthia... the point is to just try and write and perhaps the idea will gradually flows in from somewhere hahah... thanks and nice to e-meet you here.

Thanks for your contribution. You are very right. Nice to meet you too
