Little Favours

Life sometimes could become so busy that you overlook some really little things that are like toppings on an ice cream and it takes a sensitive person to take note or notice these little blessings.
Well let me give a little background, I am currently serving after graduating from the university. In Nigeria, we have a one year compulsory period after graduating froma tertiary institution where we serve the country as corp members. This is a very important period because the scheme was implemented to foster unity, patriotism and service to our beloved country. So if you reside in one part of the country or attended school in a particular region, you are posted to another distant region for service, this method that brings you into new experiences, peope, cultures, foods, etc is what makes the service year a wonderfu one, so thats a quick bakground.
Walking around with your uniform as a corp memeber is such a good feeling as everyone pays attention to you and it always lights up certain people's countenance when they see you as some would even go ahead to chant a salute. Being the President of a group of corp membes who work to curb and raise sensitivity to the fight against corruption, i have had the opportunity to experience even more grand ans wonderful expressions of this feeling.
so coming back from a meeting today, robed in my corper's attire walking towards the bus stop to board a bus to my final destination, aconcerned woman from behind telling me to walk a little more cautiously and away from the road. i was touched by her concerned as i gave a smile back and said, "Thank you". Coincidentally, we got into the same bus, she was overjoyed as she offered to pay for my fare, and started to tell me of her daughter who is almost through at the university and she is looking forward to see her daughter in this phase of her life. i was glad for her and i could see the joy of expectation on her face as she spoke, we chatted for a whie until i alighted and she payed my fare. i t was just a beautiful experience for me all together even though there wasn't anything spectacular but in that moment i forgot about all my problems and concerns, and i was grateful to be in a position or stage where some people hope or expect or look forward to be.
Life could become so busy that we could forget to count our blessings or think upon the good things we enjoy as opposed to all the things we still expect to have or wish we had.
Gratitude is one ingredient that makes life beautiful

The little things really matter...sometimes i am so hyped about finishing school and serving, other times i feel so indifferent. Nonetheless, i can't wait for all the adventures that comes with NYSC.
