How drug abuse(especially codeine) is affecting our lives and our role models are not helping

Codeine was recently banned in Nigeria
As we all know codeine is usually added in cough syrups i.e Benylin due to its strong inhibitory effect upon the coughing center
But boys and even girls this days abuse cough syrups just because of the codeine in it
They believe it makes them high, they believe it makes them more confident, makes them happy, does wonders to their brain and all..i was so shocked when i saw the news that 3million bottles of codeine are being consumed daily in just two states in Nigeria
I posted a video on whatsapp this morning..and that's what prompted me to write about codeine.
In the video, a guy was begging for codeine cause he's addicted..he was like, "doctor you see i am coughing i need codeine or i I'll enter coffin..the doctor said 'Wait let me check'
And he said he can't wait, he needs to end this feeling. He was acting like he's just going to die if he doesn't have codeine asap. When i posted the video i captioned "doctor please just allow all of them die"

And a friend of mine replied saying "hell no you don't understand the feeling"
And i'm just here wondering whats so special in codeine cause i take Benilyn cough syrup when i get cough. It helps reduce the cough but it has side effects, it makes me weak.
I feel pity when i see or hear about codeine addicted teenagers...what future do they have?
What else can they do with their lives aside scamming?
Society doesn't even help... Musicians release songs that enhance the intake of drugs for example 'Codeine Diet'
Nigerians, i'm sure you've heard the song 'Codeine Diet' just how does that song influence young ones? Right..In a negative way
For instance; i love Tiwa savage and she's my role model. I love her song, i love her confidence, i just love everything about her and want to be like her but i'm not so confident and i have the talent of singing. And then i see that video of her proudly saying she's on a codeine diet. What comes to my mind? That codeine is what makes Tiwa Savage able to do the things she does and since i'm not so confident i can also use codeine.
Banning syrups with codeine is good but its sure going to affect the innocent ones...
Corruption is everywhere, the whales can still get acess to codeine to satisfy their craves.
I'm not saying i'm against the ban of codeine but thats not all we need....we need people out there, helping, lecturing, trying their best to help cure this addiction...i saw the news, i saw young ones of around 15 and 16 years old from the north behind bars...they already lost their senses and are being rehabilitated.
Funny enough these people know excess intake of codeine and other hard drugs are bad for their health...but they can't stop. And there's a reason why they started indulging in excessive drug intake.
Please i'm begging
And i'll keep begging; let's spread love, let's share happiness we don't know whose life we might change..this people woun't derive happiness from drugs if they see happiness around.
