My Nigerian Story
i am jane omeludike, and am also a Nigerian
Just before i was inspired to write this, a vehicle (a bus to be precise) drove past my house and i could clearly see it from where i was because i was standing at the last floor of a two storey building. This so called "bus" is that of the Nigerian police force was passing at an ungodly hour of about 1:34am (Nigerian time). Due to i sat at the front balcony of the house where i came in search of mobile network to browse, i saw as they knocked heavily on the gate of a building two blocks away from mine; i became truly scared and thought they were thieves so i quickly turned of my phone.
They were eventually lucky and went into the building and arrested some occupants of the building.
This so called law enforcement agents didn't only come at an ungodly hour but without a cause and also without a warrant.
I'm a concerned student and a Nigerian and this happens almost on every night of every year i have stayed off campus. Its a terrible experience because you can't make complaints and have them been followed up properly and accordingly.
Our rights as students are been trampled upon and it hurts me everyday of my life.
Stay tuned, there's still more to come on my Nigerian story.
