Religion and politics

In my country Nigeria, it is rather a norm for the various religious groups to distant themselves from electoral processes due to reasons best know to them. But in recent times, the time has changed after it is being realized that when those with genuine concern for the well being of the citizens keep staying away from the leadership roles because of lack of support from various religious bodies giving room for those with no iota of idea on how to rule the nation, those that don't listen to the people, the selfish and clueless bit of the population. This has affected the socio economic standard of the citizens negatively over the past decades.
Time has changed and the whole diverse religious bodies are now rising up to the challenge, taking the bull by the horn, encouraging the well meaning citizens to contest for post where they can affect life positively. They are now the sole adovators for electoral registration and full participation in the electoral processes.
Is this a new phase for my country or is it another excuse for the selected few affluent to keep us as their puppets. Only time will tell!!!
