Children; The Doom of Tomorrow If Not Properly Catered for

Children are the future of tomorrow since today's children becomes the adult of tomorrow. The wealth of a country lies solely on the quality and kind of children nurtured in a country. Children are also believed to be the fruit of a successful marriage. They are beautiful creatures that needs to be catered, nurtured and groomed properly in preparation for a better tomorrow. They are the reason for man continous existence and even the Holy Bible understands their essence.

"Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.
As arrows are in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth."-Psalms 127:3-4 (AMP)

Even with likening children as arrows in the hand of a warrior, children are still subjects to maltreatment and bad parental care. My heart bleeds when i see children hawking around the street for their so called parent, it saddens my heart to see them risk their life on highways selling things in trafficks all in the quest to survive. It hurts to hear news of how some babies are dumped in various garbage heap, if not dumped forcefully aborted.

With Nigeria having one of the highest birthrate in the world(39.1%/1000 people according to crude birth rate) you see lots of families living below 500 Naira($1.4) per day having over five kids. This leaves me with the question; How do you feed and cater for these kids when you can't even take good care of yourself?, Why have so many children?, Is it as a result of ignorance to the use of contraceptives or irresponsibility on the parts of the parents?

These ignorance and irresponsibility has left the future of so many children bleaky. Kids lack proper education doing demeaning jobs; selling things on monstrous and dangerous highways, scavenging waste, some even result to stealing just to cater and fend for themselves when they ought to be catered for. Many kids in the course of these jobs has been abused physically, sexually amd mentally.

With the irresponsibility of the parents, the government themselves are not doing the needful in caring and catering for these children. Like most African countries, Nigeria is blessed with leaders that cares less about the populace, leaders that are more concentrated in filling their own coffers, leaders that lacks the understanding that children are the future of tomorrow.

These irresponsibility on the part of both the parents and government has taken a toll on the Nation's criminal activity. Youths now venture into various fraudulent activites specifically cyber- fraud( yahoo-yahoo as locally called), Armed robbery and kidnapping which has soiled the Nation's reputation.

Nigeria; once referred as the "Giant of Africa" is now vastly considered as the "Miniscule of the World" and things are unlikely to change if child education and development are not improved.

Seriously, you nailed a lot of points here, my contribution to this lovely post will be more than one

You see, the Bible said something about the young ones that ought to be noted

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Whenever children are not being treated well, many things go wrong in the environment, and also The parent won't be left a single old age rest.

Although many are people who have wanted to train their children well, the problem starts from the population in the family, then this should be generally rectified.

So also, government roles in a country determine proper education for the young ones, better are the history we heard during the days of free education.

Then the government should help build a vibe for progress in the country and parents too should promote good practices at home to build a child morally, and they should do corrections where needed in a child.

Today's youth are the leaders of tomorrow EYIN LOMA N DI AKUKO"

Nicely said bro. I love your use of the yoruba adage

Eyin loma n di akuko

Great article. Its indeed sickening and disheartening to see such things on the street. We live in a world where there is too much freedom given to people who are not ready to take up responsibilities pertaining to the freedoms given. We live in a place where births are not controlled. I believe we need serious education and to adopt the 1 child 1 parent strategy in China or better stilla good law passed out. The future will always be vague and unclear, but we can plan and make it as we want if we plan well. Say no to child labour.

Your points are well stated. Birth control needs to be implemented in this part of the world. Giving birth is good but it is really bad when kids are not properly cared for. I'm happy to see someone of like mind visiting my blog.
Thank you for stopping by, you are duly noted.

Wow! Your subject is very disturbing, but as I read thru, I totally understand the topic, Governmemt has arole to play but the bigger role relies on the parents. Charity they say begins at home. Lovely post, and very educative.

I'm glad you like it. Charity truly begins at home. Thanks for reading.

Examples of what is going on in this our "I don't understand" generation.

Thanks @bat-junior for reading.

The pleasure is mine @harbysco

In nigeria, every citizen has come to realise it takes Gods grace to change nigeria bcos of d high rate of corruption.. So, for children doing all sort of things to survive, i will blame d parents for bringing so many children to d world especially, when they know there own condition.

Here the parents are mostly to be blamed but the government has every right to take good care of its citizens
