Yes, i witnessed Nigeria civil war as a kid ,
the nightmare and sordid carnages i witnessed had remained permanently in my mind.every detail of that experience hunts like Dracula film scenery. Death was our closest ally, severe hunger gave birth to the dreaded Kwarshiokor, Refugee was a curse that inflicted carnage on almost all. Uncles and Senior brothers wantomly wasted in battle fields. Handsome and ebullient men transformed to Monsters, twinkle of an eye, children assumed new status...Orphans, the woman with several Children ended with none. Air raid, how i hate you. Never wanted to see you again.. Tufiakwa! Child soldiers all over. Women raped even to death. The scourged was unprecedented. I wept remembering the day mortar sliced a bicycle rider's head while in motion at Aba, the man continued riding headless albeit involuntarily before finally succumbing...a very horible scenario. It was a period of sadness and excruciating agony. Education then was a mirage. Hmm by our collective excesses, it does appear as if we want to go through this again? God forbid, Chukwu ekwena ngwele gbaa aji? I weep for our people in Bama and environs? Do we wait until the scourge engulf the entire nation? Go for tutoral exposition of war at Somalia, Rwanda, liberia,Sudan, a step further to Syria, Ukrain, Iraq ,Palestine etc. War no good. Battered both Victor and Vanquish. The drums of war should be silenced NOW. A STITCH IN TIME SAVES MILLIONS ABI NINE.
