New Shoes, and Things are Relatively Under Control
Have you ever noticed how new shoes give you the feeling that you're in control of your destiny?

Not to get all cosmically philosophical on you, but it's true.
After literally years of taking every single step in the same shoes, you can fall into a repetitive and comfortable pattern without even realizing it. With new shoes, at least for the first few days, you get to feel every step as if it's one you've never taken before.

Living in the mountains requires a little more care in shoe shopping. The trendy brands are quite useless to me. There's no one around to impress with a fancy logo or flashy kicks. I'm in it for sheer functionality.
Buy Nice Shoes

The new pair of Keens I bought will replace this old pair, which is almost exactly the same.
I have never worn a pair of shoes as much as I wore these. They are literally coming apart at the seams. Incredibly, they're still in decent shape and I'll keep them as work shoes. I have already taken the new ones for a dog walk and even plunged one of them into the creek (The ice finally melted). Let's see how quick I can distress the pretty new ones, eh?

But What About Style?
Oh, I have a style. It's called being awesome. For me, clothes aren't about style. They serve a function. Shoes serve the important function of protecting my feet while I'm working outside, trudging through a cactus field, kicking a porcupine, you never know what I'll get into.
I guarantee, if I tried to put a pair of Nikes through the shit that my shoes go through, they wouldn't last half a year.

Consider this my endorsement of KEEN FOOTWEAR. Pay a little more for something that's actually worth it.
Remember, sometimes you need new things. It doesn't necessarily mean your old things don't work anymore, but even quality products (and habits) wear down over time. Sometimes a fresh pair is all you need. And not just shoes... Lots of good things come in pairs.
