Update on Peace Corps of Nigeria Bill
PEACE CORPS BILL ABOUT TO BE TRANSMITTED TO PRESIDENCY FOR ASSENT
"I want to authoritatively say that the Legal Department of the National Assembly has on Thursday 7th December, 2017 concluded work on the Nigerian Peace Corps Bill by giving Legal perspective to the Harmonized Bill and has forwarded same to the Clerk of the National Assembly for signing and transmission to the President and Commander in Chief for Assent which we hope will be sent within the coming weeks.
Therefore, in furtherance with our consultation with past Leaders, Traditional Institutions and other key Players in the nation's affair, I was privileged to lead the delegation of the Corps members on a visit to the former Head of State and Commander-in-Chief (Rtd) General Yakubu Gowon GCFR. The former C-in-C applauded the initiative and assured us that he will study the Bill and intervene where necessary.
