After the reaction of people around the world you can see that Cyberpunk 2077 ignited the imagination. The latest trailer caused extreme emotions. One liked it very much, while others said it was not what they expected. Even the creator of the entire universe, Mike Pondsmith, took the floor. CD Project RED also presented a 50-minute fragment of the game to selected journalists behind closed doors. Thanks to that we know a lot more.
What do we know after the presentation?
We already know that Cyberpunk 2077 is a FPS game, i.e. with a view from the hero's eyes, and that the camera for the view of the "third person" switches only when driving (although it will also be available from behind the steering wheel) and film cutscenes.
Matt Martin from VG247 impresses even more:
"I'll eat my cybernetic implants if it's not a cross-gen game and it will not come out on the PS5 and the new Xbox. It's not only about characters and the world, but above all about the destructible environment, effects, smoke, tire tracks and missiles on the water and in the air."
Mike Pondsmith, creator of the Cyberpunk universe, commented on the reports of a colorful world in this way:
"We have a day and night cycle and we have weather algorithms. Everyone can create darkness, rain and neon lights. From the very beginning, we knew that we could do it. However, we wanted to prove that the dark future can also be available during the day."
We will create our own character and we will be able to choose between a woman and a man. We will also define characteristics such as intelligence, strength, reflexes, technical abilities and self-control. In Cyberpunk you will be able to fully customize the character, and gender, appearance and personal background will affect the course of the game. During play, the character will achieve higher and higher levels of experience and develop a range of skills (fighting or hacking). Of course, various implants will be available (eg nerve reflex enhancers), thanks to which we will modify and improve our body.
The studio also took care of an extensive dialogue system that allows you to conduct the course of conversation in a non-linear manner. You can comment on a person's tattoo or behavior, arouse aggression in it, calm it down or hug it. Whether or not we trigger a shootout will depend on previous choices in very many situations. Cyberpunk 2077 takes some elements of cinema noir, without a clear definition of what is good and what is bad. The game is intended for adult audiences, and this is associated with a lot of brutality, numerous sex scenes and a frequent view of torn limbs.
The system of plotting and missions was borrowed from The Witcher 3, but it was significantly developed. Tasks will be complex and surprising, and solutions - rarely obvious. There will be huge consequences of the choices made, much bigger than in the adventures of Geralt. The skirmishes will not only depend on shooting, it will be possible to fight in close combat. In addition, there will be plenty of white weapons and a large selection of exoskeletons. Characters will be able to run on the walls (using cyberimplants or special armor).
The weapons available in the game were divided into three types: "power weapons", with the largest caliber and the highest firepower, which is what we like the most, "tech weapons", in the form of penetrating shields with modifiable ammunition, and "smart weapons", firing intelligent, homing missiles.
Night City designers were strongly inspired by San Francisco and Los Angeles. Just like The Witcher 3 takes place in a huge space, Cyberpunk will be delighted with the vertical extension (we will visit many levels of high-rise buildings, and many tasks will end on the top floors and roofs, which can be reached eg by the lift).
Game developers will encourage exploration, but also do not count on scaling levels. Characters clearly stronger than the hero will beat him when he deserves it. We will gain traditional experience points for performing role-playing tasks, but we will also have to focus on the so-called Street Cred for completing side missions. The latter will allow even entrance into closed areas and previously inaccessible districts of the city, and also increase the hero's reputation, which will give him work and access to even more powerful weapons and other toys. The clothes worn by him will also affect the Street Cred level.
The game's release date will be announced when the time comes, and the journalists have signed a commitment to not publish video content until December this year. This means that CD Projekt RED can plan a demonstration for the wider public in December. We know that the game is to be released on PS4, Xbox One and of course PC.
