Serena Williams: Poster child for bad sportsmanship

in #news6 years ago

I was pretty active and athletic in school and I grew up in a very competitive environment as a child. And while I was not terribly good at it, I still enjoyed it and the one lesson my parent’s taught me as a child was how to handle losing gracefully and practice proper sportsmanship. Something that Serna Williams parents seem to have forgotten to teach her when she was growing up:

Not only did she act like a spoiled, petulant child when she lost, she was caught cheating then making it all about herself ruining the moment for Naomi Osaka. Which is pretty much the textbook definition of acting like how should I put this delicately? A cunt? But as you can imagine the media and Serena decided to make it all about woman’s right, gender, sexism, and oppression. Because someone who is worth $180 million dollars has the best cars, houses, schools, and healthcare, fly around in private jets and gets food prepared by private chefs are of course being oppressed.

The real reason she got penalized? No coaching from the player’s box, no smashing of racquets, no abuse of officials, no questioning officials integrity which all carries penalties under Grand Slam regulations. No sexism, no racism no self-imagined oppression case closed! Serena and the media even tried to pull the but “men don’t get the same treatment card” But did they forget that John McEnroe was disqualified because of his behavior on the court in 1990:

But I am guessing that Serena and the media suffer from selective memory loss on the subject or is banking on everyone’s bad memory or lack of knowledge on the subject. And this isn’t the first time Serena has acted like this: “fighting for women’s rights and for women’s equality” if that was the case then why does she have a history of harassing and intimidating women line judges and other players? She told one woman she was “unattractive inside” and threatened to hit another. Also telling another tennis player: “If you ever see me walking down the hall, look the other way.”

Serena has dominated women’s tennis for so long that she now has developed a diva complex. I didn’t like how McEnroe acted and I certainly don’t like this entitled behavior either. Temper tantrums have consequences. She got beat by Osaka fair and square and decided to throw a tantrum. Credit to Osaka as she remained a class act throughout the entire match and during Serena’s tantrums. And the irony behind all of this? She claims to fight for women’s rights while forgetting she robbed Osaka (another woman) of her moment because she decided to throw a tantrum…

Serena would have lost anyways
