For the first time in European Union (EU) countries, oral pills are going to be added to corona treatment. The European Medicines Agency (EMA), the EU's drug regulator, has approved Pfizer's Corona pill from Pfizer, a US pharmaceutical company. The approval was given by the company on Thursday, local time.

Paxlovid pills reduce the risk of serious physical complications after being infected with the corona, the news agency AFP reported, citing research. As a result, the hospitalization and death rate of the patients receiving this treatment is quite low. Pfizer's corona pills are quite effective in preventing even the most contagious type of corona.

In this regard, EU Health Commissioner Stella Kiriakides said Paxlovid could make a big difference for patients at risk of serious coronary heart disease. There is ample evidence of efficacy of the drug against amicron and other types.

The EMA said that corona can be treated with Pfizer pills from home. The agency said in a statement that adults who do not need a separate supply of oxygen after being infected with corona and who are at risk for serious physical conditions can receive the treatment.

However, Paxlovid was not the first to be approved in Europe. Earlier, a number of countries, including the United States, Canada and Israel, gave the green light to use the drug. Although the European Union has officially announced the use of the drug, the process could take hours to days to complete.
