I say it's better to live at home and pay fair rent to help the family's bottom line, than move in with a group of roommates from HADES...and, yes there are more than a few lawsuits dealing with horrible roommates.
In the U.S. with sl-debt strangling most young people, living at home is a last resort in most cases. As the 30 year old currently in the news says...he'd rather not have to live at 'home'. However, he's smart enough to know it's the lesser of two evils. Unfortunately, his downside is not putting money in the pot to help with mortgage/utility expenses.
