Thoughts From "Fly-Over" Country, Episode #2, The "Facebook Killer"

in #news8 years ago

Ok, so here's a new way to use social media: on Easter Sunday , a 37 year old Cleveland man named Steve Stephens, decided to pick a victim at random to shoot and kill. He found a 72 year old man named Robert Goodwin walking on the street, announced that this was his victim to his anticipated Facebook audience, and shot him dead, all recorded for Facebook posterity in living color. Stephens is described as a "mental health worker" and the lame excuse given for his actions is "anger and frustration" aimed at his girlfriend and their relationship.

Mr Stephens threatened continued killing spree, and his life, ended with a self-inflicted gunshot wound this morning, near Erie, PA.

Now, I don't know about anyone else, but I have been in frustrating relationships, and had rather traumatic break-ups, but somehow, I just never felt like ending someone else's life was really going to make me feel better. What makes a person feel entitled to play God in such a way? I cannot make sense of this reasoning, if anyone can help me understand, please comment.
