Agreement between Uber and Nasa for the development of flying taxis

in #news6 years ago

In the framework of the Uber Elevate summit in Los Angeles, which brings together technology and transport leaders, Uber detailed an important agreement with NASA to develop flying taxis.

Uber, one of many companies that is exploring the potential of autonomous vehicles, also has among its plans to offer in the future the possibility of traveling with flying taxis, technology that still has much development ahead. One of the main challenges that the company must face with this technology is the development of systems that allow air traffic control.

Thanks to the use of the systems developed by NASA, Uber will be able to create a simulation platform that in 2020 will allow it to carry out the first tests announced also in this opportunity, in order to achieve its goal of having flying vehicles in 2023.

The alliance is that Uber will provide details about its flying taxi so that NASA can use them as a base in flight simulations. Traffic and airspace management will be some of the aspects on which the collaboration between the platform and the space agency will be based.

It must be said that the project called "Uber Air" will consist of a fleet of flying taxis that, although they will initially be piloted, are later expected to be completely autonomous. They will be able to transport four passengers that will meet at a common point and land in a specific place, unlike the current service where each passenger is picked up in a different place.

Thanks for sharing I liked your publication a lot, it would be wonderful to be transported in flying taxis, it reminds me of the comics of the supersonics. Greetings.
