Internet satellite 'athena'
Facebook has started the process of creating its own Internet satellite 'Athena' as part of providing internet services to people who are outside the Internet service. Facebook has appealed to the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to create this satellite, according to some media reports. This application, named after the point-of-sale LLC, has taken the project to implement effective broadband services in those areas which have not yet reached the service.
A Facebook spokesperson of the satellite 'Athena' said in a statement, "There is no specific reference to the project right now. However, we believe that broadband connectivity can be done in remote areas such as whether there is a lack of internet connection or not. Satellite technology will be an important factor in the ability of the new generation of broadband infrastructure. "Facebook has been working for this long time, but the previous two projects did not achieve much success.
Facebook announced the closure of Project Aquila in June this year with its solar-powered drone project. Facebook has also stopped the project to provide alternative service of cellular service with a small helicopter in 2017. Elven Mask's SPExX and SoftBank-supported OneWebO are also working to deliver internet services in remote areas of the world.
