The Legal Provisions Relating To Clinical needs of a Worker
Clinical needs : According to section 89 of the Bangladesh Labour Act, 2006, clinical
needs of a worker are the following,
- First-aid box:
a) In every establishment the first-aid box or cupboard equipped with the
contents prescribed by rules, shall be provided to be readily accessible during all
working hours.
b) The number of such box or cupboard shall not be less than one for
every 150 workers employed.
c) Every first-aid box or cupboard shall be kept in charge of such a
responsible person who is trained in first-aid treatment and who shall be available
during all working hours. - Sick Room:
Where 300 or more workers are employed, a sick room with a dispensary
of a size and containing equipments or other facilities ,shall be provided and shall be
kept in charge of a medical practitioner and nursing stuff. - Medical Centre:
Where 5000 or more workers are employed the employer or
employers ,as the case, may be , shall provide a running permanent medical centre. - Treatment Cost:
The treatment of a worker, suffered from professional disease or work
time accident shall be continued by a competent or specialist medical practitioner at the
expense and responsibility of the employer until such worker is fully cured. - Welfare Officer:
Where 500 or more workers are employed the employer shall appoint
a welfare officer in the manner prescribed by rules.
