Why you shouldn't read/watch the news
’News’ is primarily a form of pornography engineered to take advantage of our emotional integrity by fomenting an assault. Like many forms of addiction and porn, it takes advantage of weaknesses and habits. These are primarily depend upon two pivots: fear and outrage. One of the goals is to produce either of these emotions, for the sake of garnering attention (which is used to profile the victims as well as attempt to sell them things or services). The other goal is to establish and sustain a sense of helplessness.
News can be studied to produce immunity; but if we do not understand the dangers of exposure, most of us will become victims of the associated toxic effluent. It is therefore important that we organize the intelligence necessary to understand and repurpose whatever relationship we and those we care for may have formed with these forms of media.
