SYRIA WAR: POLIO PARALISES 17 KIDS
Seventeen youngsters have been incapacitated by polio taking after an episode of the malady in Syria that the World Health Organization says is "intense".
Recently, the organization detailed two polio cases in the Mayadin territory of Deir al-Zour region, quite a bit of which is controlled by supposed Islamic State.
Fourteen new cases have now been affirmed in a similar zone, while another was recorded in Raqqa territory.
It is the primary re-rise of polio in the war-torn nation since 2014.
The profoundly irresistible sickness, caused by an infection, predominantly influences youngsters under five years old.
One in 200 diseases prompts irreversible loss of motion. Among those incapacitated, 5-10% pass on when their breathing muscles move toward becoming immobilized.
