Argentina Cancel Jerusalem Friendly

When your country's flag and shirts of your greatest ever player gets burnt by the citizens of the country you are about to play, nothing is ever friendly in the match again. This is the case of Lionel Messi and Argentina who were due to play a friendly game with Israel in Jerusalem. However threats directed towards the Barcelona and Argentina captain has led to the cancellation of the match.

 "The Israeli embassy laments to announce the suspension of the match between Israel and Argentina planned for next Saturday June 9, as a prelude to the game for the World Cup in Russia," read a statement. 

 The Argentine FA has faced pressure to cancel the match in the wake of the recent violence which followed the opening of the new United States embassy in Jerusalem and things got worse after the Palestine FA encouraged fans to raze the shirts of the five time ballon d'or winner.
