Portugal Produces 100% Renewable Electricity In March

In the month of March, Portugal met over 100% of electricity demand from renewable energy sources. This represents a massive success in the growing role of renewable energy in the world.

Hydroelectricity represented the largest contributor, meeting 55% of electricity demand by itself. However, wind wasn't far behind, meeting 42% of consumption.

The same report also predicted that by 2040, Portugal would be meeting all electricity demand year round with renewable energy.
