"The state government has been been doing everything possible to secure Constitutional recognition of the eleven left out communities as Scheduled Tribes in view of their historical background," Chamling said on Thursday at a summit for Tribal Status, 2018 organised by the Eleven Indigenous Ethnic Communities of Sikkim (EIECOS) and others.

⟹ Boxing still facing risk of being excluded from Tokyo Olympics 2020 due to concerns over AIBA, says IOC. The International Olympic Committee on Thursday refused to rule out the possibility of excluding boxing from the 2020 Tokyo Games amid ongoing concerns over the sport's governing body. In February, the IOC opened an investigation into the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) and said concerns remained over possible match-fixing at Rio 2016.

Pinjoora: Umar Ahmad Kumar had just returned from school when blaring loudspeakers in the mosques of Pinjoora, his native place, urged people to come out and "save the militants" trapped in Turkawangam village, nearly 11 kilometres away, where a brief encounter with the security forces started on Thursday afternoon.

⟹ Dust storm kills over 100 in UP and Rajasthan, injures 183; MET predicts another bout in 48 hours. A storm whipped through a large swathe of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh last night, killing over 100 people in a trail of destruction that brought down mud houses, uprooted trees and flattened crops. At least 183 others were injured as a massive dust storm, followed by thunder showers, snapped power lines and sent tin roofs and street hoardings flying in parts of eastern Rajasthan and the adjoining areas of Uttar Pradesh.

⟹ Heavy rain wreaks havoc in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, kills 10; Met department says more in the offing. Hyderabad/Vijayawada: Ten people were killed as heavy rains lashed Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, officials said. While five people were killed in various rain-related incidents in Telangana, an equal number of deaths were reported from Andhra Pradesh.

⟹ Fire breaks out at Ahmedabad's ISRO research centre; 25 tenders rushed to spot, no casualties reported yet. Ahmedabad: A major fire broke out at a research facility located in the Space Application Centre (SAC) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Thursday afternoon, officials said. Nobody was reported injured in the blaze, they added. "A major fire broke out at the research centre inside the sprawling SAC campus in the Satellite area of the city this afternoon. As many as 25 fire tenders have been pressed into service by the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES)," an AFES official said.

Trump tweeted that his personal lawyer Michael Cohen used a retainer to pay off Stormy Daniels, who claims to have had sexual relations with the now president.

⟹ US raises concerns over Beijing's latest militarisation of South China Sea, warns of 'near-term and long-term consequences'. Washington: The United States has raised concerns with China about its latest militarisation of the South China Sea and there will be near-term and long-term consequences, the White House said on Thursday. US news network CNBC reported on Wednesday that China had installed anti-ship cruise missiles and surface-to-air missile systems on three outposts in the South China Sea. It cited sources with direct knowledge of US intelligence.

A Puerto Rico Air National Guard cargo plane crashed on Wednesday near Savannah, Georgia, scattering fiery debris over a highway and railroad tracks, and likely killing all nine people aboard, officials said. At least five were confirmed dead, a US official said on condition of anonymity, adding that the number of fatalities could rise.

Stakeholders in a private limited company are usually bound by a contract and have more flexibility than in a public company.

New Delhi: Beverage major Coca-Cola plans to launch 10 new products in India this year through its incubator which uses insights-based on consumer feedback.
