Chinese ships have dumped so much poop in the South China Sea, you can see it from space: report - Marine Conservation News
According to a recent study there are over 200 Chinese fishing vessels dumping raw waste into the waters of the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea, so much that you can see it from space.
There is so much sewage being dumped in the islands that it is damaging the fragile coral reefs the island is known for. This massive amount of waste is causing overloads of phytoplankton that in turn causes oxygen depletion, which damages the coral reef ecosystems and the causes issues with the fish populations they are fishing for.
"The Philippines, one of the claimants to the South China Sea, said it is in the process of verifying Simularity's report."
""China treating us as its toilet is a clear violation of both international and local environmental laws," Philippines Senator Grace Poe said in a statement, reported the Inquirer."
