Italian criminologists have deciphered the mystery of a man who was found thirteen years ago on the Italian side of the Alps near Matterhorn. Thanks to Facebook, the relatives of the dead were found, the La Repubblica said. Tragically deceased was the Frenchman who had been missing since 1954.

Italian police have recently called on the public to help identify the unknown man, whose body was thrown up thirteen years ago by an Alpine glacier. Approximately after a month, a woman from Paris, who, according to the description, knew she was her uncle.

Thirty-five-year-old French finance minister Henri Joseph Leonce Le Masne vanished on March 26, 1954, after taking a tour of Matterhorn. His brother Roger was looking for him between Torino and Cervini at the foot of Matterhorn four weeks before he gave up the quest.

Roger's daughter, Emma Nassem, has heard about the Italian police call. She met her uncle on the basis of the description that he was 1.65 meters tall, wore glasses, he wore a green sweater and Rossignol skis, and metal wands that only a few could afford.

After the first preliminary identification based on Nassem's photograph of the Italian criminals, the identity of the Matterhorn dead man was confirmed on the basis of DNA tests.

The body of more than sixty years of the missing Frenchman will now be transported to Paris where his 94-year-old brother Roger intends to bury him. According to Nassem, her father was "moved, but especially surprised" that after years he learned of the fate of his missing brother.
