Summit or OLCF-4 is a supercomputer developed by IBM for use at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, which as of June 8, 2018 is the fastest supercomputer in the world.
The computer can do 200 quadrillion mathematical calculations per second, as fast as the planet's 7.6 billion people doing 26 million calculations per second on a hand calculator.

China though still has more top 500 supercomputers though overall, but now we can say the fastest one is here. China has had the top few supercomputers for a while now, and this was not cheap for sure! This is located in Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee!

Overall though US lags China today for both the top supercomputer and the most total supercomputer capacity on the Top500 list, but Summit will deliver a speed boost with new processor designs. Also super fast storage and internal communications that have never seen speeds this fast before, and a design that can use artificial intelligence methods to zero in on the right computing calculations to be running in the first place.

Also another interesting point, Summit divides work among 4,608 interconnected computer nodes housed in refrigerator-sized cabinets that are also liquid-cooled. And pumping 4,000 gallons of water per minute through the system, that is insane!

This is Awesome we need to stay ahead of everyone it is vital! Im happy for China, but the United States invented computing and we have Intel and AMD and IBM so we need more of these for sure!
