Microsoft entered into an agreement with Signal to launch the end-to-end encryption system in Skype. This is stated in the statement Signal.

The Signal Messenger is an encrypted messaging service, the project team has also developed a Signal Protocol encryption protocol. This system, except Signal itself, is used by WhatsApp, Google and Facebook.

In test mode, Skype received the Private Conversations function. Only two people can open an encrypted chat, this function is not available for group chats.

While Private Conversations can only be used by the owners of Skype Insider - the version of Skype, where new features of the service are tested. The date of launch of the new function for all users is not disclosed.
