The End Game
So this morning on Meet the Press, the panel included Conservative Columnist and weekly contributor for the Wall Street Journal, Peggy Noonan. Now if you have followed her for even the shortest period of time you would know that Peggy is a conservative first and she has no problem will calling President Trump out when she sees fit. She is far from being a Trumpist.
That said, in the closing segment, called The End Game, she made an interesting observation. She said that for a while nobody knew what the democrats stood for anymore; we only knew what they were against. They just didn't have a rallying cry. We now they have found one and she believes that its DACA. Now I understand that people stand on both sides of the DACA issue and I personally lean much more to the middle on this one, but even for the Democrat Party, I think think they are going to be sadly disappointed if they think DACA is going to drive people to the poles for midterms. It won't and Ms. Noonan said as much. She also suggested, and I whole heartedly agree with her on this, that the democrats need to acknowledge that over 4,200,000 million people have seen a bonus or pay increase due to the corporate tax rate changes. This is before they have even seen the changes in their paychecks from personal tax rate cuts which will happen in the next couple weeks. Nancy Pelosi might think this is table scraps, but Joe & Jill Six-Pack will likely see it differently.
If the "progressives" think that the House is going to be just handed to them on the basis that Trump is hated by their base, they need to look a deeper.
