From Book Worm to Badass - Jeff bezos is the richest man in history. "Blockchain the hell out of it!"

What if Amazon was decentralized and built on the blockchain?

We've all seen this meme:

Jeff bezos is the richest man in history, why you ask, because he is the biggest middle man/ trusted third party in history. Amazon used to be a peer to peer system to sell your college text book (the good old days). Back then we simply used Amazon for a trusted third party in the event of a dispute.

Over time it evolved to seller/retailers shipping everything to Jeffs warehouses and the middle man Amazon getting a huge cut because they brought the users. They can do logistics so well because they have ALL the data, making shipping dirt cheap.

Decentralized Amazon built on the blockchain

What if in the future we had a decentralized version of Amazon were the sellers and buyers had trusted reputations on the blockchain ? (EOS/Blockstack) And disputes were avoided because your money was in escrow on the blockchain until the item was delivered then automatically paid for (Smart Contract, ETH/ADA/IOTA in the roadmap). What if marketing and advertising was not thru a central site like amazon but thru an opt-in..get-paid system (Basic Attention Token/Oyster Pearl). What if anyone could tap into Amazons wealth of data in an open data marketplace, maybe somebody else could created better shipping routes and warehouse location (IOTA Data Marketplace, Steamr, Datum) This opens up a huge opportunity for developers and a lot of healthy competition in the market. We could have several different versions of Amazon were the consumer could pick their favorite site / user interface.

Don't get me wrong, Amazon is a great site but they hold too much power and they could improve it by decentralizing. We WILL see services exist in the near future (Open Bazaar) that do this...the question is what incentive will it take for humans to migrate over to them?
