Week 4 2017 Weekly Summary of News

in #news8 years ago (edited)

I know, I come late to the party. I originally planned on doing this yesterday, but you know procrastination got in the way.

This will be a weekly post from now until I don't want to do it anymore, so yeah. Watch me sum up the most significant news stories, in my point of view, of the past week.

Trump to be the first president who holds his promises

As of now, Donald Trump has hold 2 of his promises he made during campaigning.

His first action was getting the building of the wall going. If Mexico will really pay for it, is unclear, but they will pay one way or another, either with punitive duties, or really by paying the USA money.

The second act was banning muslims from crossing the borders of the US. As of now many muslims have been send back to their departure country, however many muslims are still waiting at their departure terminal and are not allowed to even board a plane. We will see how this pans out in the future, as many state that this ban is unconstitutional.

Could there be "Element 0"?

At the end of 2016 the new heavy elements (113 Nihonium,115 Moscovium, 117 Tennesine, 118 Oganesson) have been named on the same day, which never happened before, "Element Zero" is coming into debate again.

First researched by German chemist Andreas von Antropoff, Neutronium as he called it, is celabrating a comeback. With researchers now debating wether the makeup of neutron stars, which are the cores of dead stars, should be called Neutronium and as such made out of element zero. These neutron stars are spheres about 20 km wide and are made up entirely of neutrons.
We will see in the future if this topic shows further development, or if it will be just a dead star in a few weeks.

Exo-Suits on the rise

As we develop human-like robots further, also the future "helping hands" of society, exo-suits, get developed further.
A recent publication of the Harvard Wyss Institute shows of a new type of exo-suits. These exo-suits aren't the clunky types we've seen before, they are just the opposite of clunky. This fabric like material creates a new possibility for phisically disabled people to get control over their bodies again. As it can be worn under a shirt or a pair of jeans, it isn't even noticable to people, well except for the clunky control/battery box.

This shows once again that technology could really improve the life standards of physically disabled people. I sure hope that these suits will soon be available for those in need.

This pretty much will get you some conversation starters, but as always don't trust me alone. Do your own research and be critical about everything. I will hopefully see you coming sunday.
