Google sued Take Millions of iPhone Sensitive User Data
London - Google reportedly collected millions of iPhone users' sensitive data in the UK illegally. Reportedly, there are about 4.4 million iPhone user data taken.
As reported by Mirror, Tuesday (22/05/2018), millions of iPhone user data is taken to be distributed to the advertiser.
As a result, the technology giant based in Mountain View, United States (US) is sued on the basis of security intervention iPhone device, from August 2011 to February 2012.
The litigation was taken directly by the campaign group "Google You Owe Us" who wanted to unload the data collection efforts. The group plaintiff's mouthpiece is in the director, Richard Lloyd.
In a court hearing of the first lawsuit held in London on Monday (21/2/2018) local time, Lloyd's lawyers revealed the information Google collected from iPhone users divided into several classes, ranging from race and ethnicity, physical and mental health, political opinion, sexual orientation, to social class.
In fact, the data is also divided into several personal conditions, ranging from financial conditions, online shopping habits, and the most sensitive is the geographic location where the user accesses Google services.
Hugh Tomlinson, a spokeswoman for Lloyd, said the information accessible to users turned out to be 'data' Google took to know their habits.
Later, the data captured will be processed and sent to the advertiser so that they can target the ads according to the user.
Oppose the Law
Lloyd himself accused what Google has done clearly against the law.
"Their actions have impacted millions of iPhone users across the United Kingdom, and this is clearly illegal and illegal - they should ask permission if they want to retrieve data for a particular purpose," Lloyd said.
The "Google You Owe Us" campaign group is hoping that they can win the case and Google can pay 1 billion pounds
Google response
Responding to this, Anthony White QC, as representative of Google said, the goal of Lloyd's campaign group is merely to take retribution and profit, rather than 'fighting' compensation for the aggrieved party (iPhone users with sensitive data taken).
"The court should not allow anyone to co-opt the protection of millions of user data for campaign purposes," Anthony said.
Until now clashes between the two sides still have not found a common ground. To be sure, Lloyd's campaign group will still continue to demand that Google can resolve it in the expected way.
