A mighty (yawn) from yours truly here today. Just about to get that black of all goodness going but wanted to send out today's edition of what you missed while you slept!

FINANCE/WORLD PIECES

•  Global Stocks Fall After U.S. Rout
  • "European and Asian equity markets slumped in the wake of the worst day  in eight months for U.S. stocks, even as the dollar steadied and a rush  to haven assets eased.  Shares across Europe extended declines after the S&P 500 Index  plummeted by the most since September, following reports that U.S.  President Donald Trump asked FBI director James Comey in February to  halt an investigation.   •  Bettors are ramping up wagers over whether Trump will serve out a full term as US president

• On Wednesday, Google kicked off it's annual conference for developers
  • " Google CEO Sundar Pichai and a succession of company execs took the stage to talk up the latest milestones and to unveil new and upcoming products. Among the new goodies: updates to Android, Google Home, Google Assistant and YouTube. As well as nifty new services like Google Lens, which uses your [smartphone's] camera to identify objects in the real  world." [Link]
•  Sweden Inches Closer To Cashless Society As Churches And Homeless Now Accept Plastic
  • " The citizens of Sweden are perhaps closer to completely giving up a component of their individual sovereignty than any other country on  earth. In a world where government's abuse of power and intrusion into  the personal lives of its blissfully ignorant enablers grows more  disturbing by the day, at least for now, cash offers the one opportunity  to transact in a truly anonymous way. That said, Swedes are ditching their physical currency at a breakneck  pace with notes and coins in circulation dropping consistently for the  past 6 years and down over 15% in 2016 alone." [Link]
•  Inside Bitfinex's Comeback From a $69 Million Bitcoin Heist
  • " After hackers stole  $69 million from Bitfinex last year, the bitcoin exchange’s fate seemed sealed: lawsuits, bankruptcy and years of liquidation proceedings. That’s  what happened to Mt. Gox, the high-profile marketplace for trading the virtual currency, which lost $480 million. There were also other smaller implosions such as Cointrader and Bitcurex. But against the odds, Bitfinex pulled out of its spiral dive, announcing last month that all customers were repaid. The exchange posted its most profitable month and claimed its spot as the largest bitcoin venue for U.S. dollar trading. “We’ve demonstrated an alternative to bankruptcy,”  said Phil Potter, 45, Bitfinex’s chief strategy officer.
