Steemian, this time I want to discuss about meugang tradition in Aceh and specifically I write about the implementation of Hari Meugang in my (village) area today.

History of Meugang Day

Meugang is a tradition of cooking meat and enjoying it with family, relatives and orphans by the people of Aceh, Indonesia. The Meugang tradition has been applied since the time of the Kingdom of Aceh in the year 1607-1636 AD, during which time "Sultan Iskandar Muda" cut the animals in large quantities and the meat is distributed free of charge to everyone. This is done as a gratitude for the welfare of his people and his gratitude to his people. Since then, Hari Meugang has been rooted in the life of the people of Aceh to this day.

All layers of society (poor or rich) and under any circumstances still carry out Meugang. Every community will prepare to buy meat on Meugang day. In some places or villages, there are also meugang meats that are given free or donated by people who have the ability to fund.

Meugang can also be interpreted as a day to eat meat together. Meugang in my village this time is very special because we get donation 2 tail, then we work together to cut the cow and distribute the meat to all residents in our village.
